Dear TCC Family,

As you are already aware, Gov. Roy Cooper issued Executive Order 117 banning gatherings over 100 people until April 13th. Subsequently, the CDC recommended restricting groups to 50, and President Trump recommended yesterday that groups of 10 or more should not assemble.

This restriction is for the safety and well-being of our community, and we are honoring these guidelines. While this is certainly a challenge, this need not stop the church from being the church. The church of Jesus Christ is not a building or even just a gathering. It is the Body of Christ that seeks to embody the presence of the living Savior in the world. I want to urge all of us to pray for our nation and our community. I also want to urge us to ask God for opportunities in the midst of this challenge to demonstrate the love and peace of Jesus.

The situation is dynamic; it changes on almost a daily basis. So, we will monitor things closely, and we will be in constant communication with you. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we work through this together:

  1. Gathering: Although we are unable to gather for worship, we will continue to do Church Online. Beginning this Sunday, March 22, we will stream a service at both 9 AM and 11 AM. Click HERE for Church Online. Please do gather in your homes to set aside time to worship the Lord as a family by engaging with these streaming opportunities. Wednesday night ministries and other church gatherings will be suspended until the Executive Order is lifted.

  2. Small groups may still choose to gather, but we would ask that you adhere to the recommended restrictions on numbers greater than 10. High-risk groups like seniors or people with pre-existing health conditions should not meet at this time.

  3. Inviting: This would be a wonderful time to invite someone to watch our Church Online! You could send them a link to our service and have a “virtual watch party” where you watch from your home and your invitees watch from theirs. You could follow up with phone calls and discussion to offer support and prayer to others.

  4. Serving: Many of you want to help serve. There are important ways you can do that.

    1. The Capital Church Food Pantry is still fully operational. They have altered their logistics to maintain safety, but they continue to meet tremendous needs in our community. You can help by:

      1. Volunteering time. The Food Pantry’s director, Iris Motley, has said she could plug people in to help whatever time they have to give.

      2. Donating food. The Food Pantry is always open to receiving donated food items. That is particularly important now, especially canned goods. Next time you are in the grocery store, consider purchasing some extra cans for others in need.

    2. Community Needs: Please be alert to the needs of people around you that you may be in a position to meet. If you know of needs that we could serve together, do let us know. We won’t be able to meet every need, but we would love to know what God is putting on your heart. Let’s pray that God would direct us to ways we can practically demonstrate the love of Jesus.

  5. Giving: The church infrastructure continues even when we’re not gathering. Please continue to remember TCC in your regular tithes and offerings. Here are some ways you can do that:

    1. You could mail your checks to the church office:

              2. You could give online through our website. Click HERE to give online.

              3. The BEST way to give is by automatic draft. You could set that up with your bank or email or call the church office for help:                         919.772.5919.

We are the Body of Christ. We love each other, and we support each other, especially during difficult times. Believers don’t run away from problems, we run towards them for the glory of God because we know that we carry the banner of a prayer answering, peace giving, miracle working, healing God! If you have needs, please be sure to let us know! If you know of needs in your community, please communicate those with us. Let’s make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16).

We will continue to update you through social media, email, and our website.

In Christ,

Pastor Ryan
